Your socials just got a seat at Google’s table

Searchabilitea is our short read about getting found, cited, and believed across AI and search. This is the first cup.

Short answer: Google just quietly merged two questions that used to have nothing to do with each other. “How are my social posts doing?” and “How am I doing on Google?” As of July 7, 2026, they are the same question.

What changed

Google Search Console added platform properties, a new way to see how your content on Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube actually performs in Google Search and Discover. Think of it as a dashboard that finally shows you which searches lead people to your posts, how many clicks and impressions you are pulling, and which content is doing the heavy lifting.

The part worth reading twice: you do not need a website. No domain, no DNS records, no files to upload. You verify by authorizing the social account itself, and Google connects the dots. That opens real search measurement to creators and brands who live entirely on social and never touched a website.

What you get once you are in

  • A Performance report with clicks, impressions, and the exact queries sending people your way.
  • An Insights report showing recent trends, top posts, and how people are finding your account on Google.
  • Achievements that flag growth milestones, like crossing a new click threshold in the last 28 days.

One note before you get excited about peeking at someone else’s numbers: access is tied to the account. Being emailed a report, or even seeing a brand’s website data, does not unlock their socials. Whoever controls the social login controls the view.

The bigger shift

Google Search is quietly becoming the measurement layer for everything you publish, not just your website. Your posts were already being found in search. Now you can finally prove it, which means social content is officially part of your discoverability picture: one more surface where your brand either shows up or does not.

Rollout is gradual over the coming weeks. Go verify an account and see what’s steeping.
