Do I need Apple Business Connect for Apple Maps?

● The short answer

Yes, if customers can visit you or you care about iPhone users finding you. Apple Business Connect, now folded into Apple's free Apple Business platform, is how you claim and control your Apple Maps place card: name, hours, photos, logo and action links. Without it, Apple fills your listing from third-party data you cannot easily correct.

Key takeaways

  • Apple Business Connect now lives inside Apple Business, Apple's free combined platform launched April 2026.
  • Claiming your Apple Maps place card lets you control name, hours, photos and action links.
  • Apple Maps ads went live in the US and Canada in August 2026 for businesses with a Maps listing.

What changed in 2026

Apple Business Connect was the free tool for claiming your business on Apple Maps. In March 2026 Apple announced it would combine Business Connect, Business Essentials and Business Manager into a single platform called Apple Business, available from April 14, 2026 in 200 countries and regions. The Maps features did not go away; they now live inside Apple Business alongside device management and business email.

The bigger change is advertising. Apple began showing ads in Apple Maps search in the United States and Canada in late August 2026. Ads appear at the top of results and in suggested places, labeled "Ad," one per set of results. Only businesses with a physical location and an existing Maps listing can advertise. Apple says it charges when people view or tap an ad. Some categories, such as home services, were reported as excluded at launch, so check eligibility for yours.

More questions

Is Apple Business free?

Claiming and managing your Apple Maps listing is free. Apple charges for optional extras such as additional iCloud storage per user and AppleCare for Business, and Apple Maps ads are paid. You do not need any paid feature to control your place card, hours, photos and action links.

Where do Apple Maps reviews come from?

Apple shows its own ratings from Apple Maps users and, in many regions, reviews from partners such as Yelp. That means a neglected Yelp listing can shape how you look to iPhone users. Keep Yelp claimed and accurate, and reply to reviews there the same way you do on Google.
